![]() Our egos can either bring out the best, or worst in us. We allow ourselves to compare our "good 'ol glory days" to our present situation and if not kept in check, can easily become one dark rabbit hole. Why? Because we get too busy looking back and focusing on WHAT WAS that we miss the opportunity of today and possibilities of WHAT COULD BE.... Our egos can be utilized to reveal our strong character, or uncover our most negative trait. At this point in my life, I can pinpoint specific moments where I've gotten in the way of my own success. Where I was too prideful to either ask for help, or too nieve to think that I can do it all on my own. I was too into myself thinking that I always had to be "the best" in everything I did. And that's exactly why I stopped progressing. I stopped surrounding myself with people who were better than me. I let my ego get in the way of my personal development. I wasn't being challenged to reach for more because in my head, I was comfortable with the status quo. Until one of my good friends, @alexspinoso kept me in check when he told me, "Never be afraid to be the youngest, dumbest, most inexperienced MF'er in the room." I don't know if he made it up himself or if he read it on some fortune cookie or whatever lol but regardless, the truth hit me like a ton of bricks. I've been getting in my own way for a long time now. My comfort zone had become a breeding ground for bad habits, mediocrity, and the weak mentality I had been preaching against for as long as I can remember. I had become what I was coaching people NOT to be. At that point, I knew Alex was right. It was a tough pill to swallow, but it was definitely a necessary reminder. Our egos can lead us to the person we were created to become. Otherwise, our egos can create the exact opposite of everything we hoped to build. And you know what's the best part of it all? It's YOUR choice. Comments are closed.
